BMW part number 18211723410 (18-21-1-723-410) is a metal rear muffler supporting bracket (often listed in parts catalogs as a "bow"). It acts as the lower metal carrier strap that cradles the rear muffler assembly and connects it directly to the rubber exhaust hangers.  It supersedes the older, discontinued part number 18211178343. Because this bracket is bolted directly underneath the lowest point of the rear muffler, it is heavily exposed to road salt, water, and heat, causing it to frequently rust away or snap over time.
