Utica CuB Modulating Gas Boiler (CHB-150) - when the Embassy wall hung boiler that I installed in my garage in 2003 starting having major problems, I looked for a non-condensing replacement (made in USA) and they were becoming hard to find. My contractor recommended a Utica CuB series boiler and picked the largest size in the series. Thinking "bigger is better", I went with his decision. Unfortunately, this boiler was "way oversized" for my garage application at 150,000btu's and even with a 3:1 turn-back ratio, it could not handle a new 15,000btu radiant zone. I am replacing this with a Lochivar condensing boiler that's approximately half the size (80,000btu).
So I have this lightly used (it's only run 2 convector heaters in the garage) boiler that's for sale until some future need arises. I paid $3,000 for the boiler in 2018 (plus installation). I have it corded to run on generator or battery backup. It's still in use and will be swapped out in a few weeks when the weather gets a little warmer.
